Foundations of Woodworking
Foundations of Woodworking gets to the very core of the craft of woodworking: laying out, cutting, and assembling joinery for furniture and other treasured wood objects. This in-depth course will take you step-by-step through basic woodworking strategies that apply to anything you might build. Pekovich dives project-by-project into the essential wood joints, from rabbets and dadoes through dovetails and miters. Master these joints – with a combination of hand tools and power tools – and the door is open to create just about any design you can think of.
Machine Joinery
The best way to master joinery is to learn from an instructor with vast experience and a knack for simplifying the complex. Tim Rousseau qualifies on both counts. In this on-demand course, Tim walks you through proven strategies, techniques, and tips for crafting the most commonly used joints – those you’ll use again and again. Along with a deeper understanding of joinery, you’ll learn how to cut and fit joinery with speed, accuracy, and repeatability, giving you the skills and confidence to build furniture that will stand the test of time.
SketchUp For Furniture Design
SketchUp takes the guesswork out of woodworking by helping you create accurate plans that avoid errors while you build. This intensive course will help improve your SketchUp skills, giving you more advanced tools to design and build better furniture projects with efficiency. To get the most from this course, participants should be familiar with SketchUp's tools and functionality.
Miter Joinery
Visually simple yet requiring precision and skill, the miter joint is an attractive and capable method of joining two pieces of wood at a corner. Think of picture frames, mirrors, and small boxes—all are typically joined with miters. There's no one better to teach you this cornerstone woodworking joint than Tim Rousseau. Starting with strategies for calibrating angles, he will demonstrate how to cut miters using both hand and power tools—table saw, router, or biscuit joiner. You'll learn how to fine-tune mitered surfaces for a perfect fit, and get clever tips for clamping and glue-up. For joints that need reinforcement, you'll learn how to beef up the joint using mortise-and-tenons, or add splines for additional strength and beauty. Finally, once the basic miter is mastered, you'll have the tools to create a unique, showcase joint—the three-way miter.
